Overview
Trillion Book Gift is a family reading app created as part of Fixing.World’s mission to make diverse children’s books accessible to every household. The app helps parents and children build daily reading habits through simple flows, curated book recommendations, and a warm, friendly reading experience.
Challenge
50% of children in the USA and 70% globally lack age-appropriate books at home, missing critical opportunities for brain development and storytime with caregivers.
The design challenge was to build an experience that felt welcoming, intuitive, and calm for busy parents and young children. The app needed to support simple daily reading habits while maintaining the emotional warmth of gifting and the intimacy of storytime.
Process
Working alongside the art director, I translated user flows into polished UI across all key screens. The art director led overall direction and client communication, while I focused on visual design execution and launch assets.
What I designed:
Created UI components, visual states, and layout structure
Designed key screens: onboarding, registration, home bookshelf, book selection, book reading
Built a detailed animated prototype in Figma
Designed App Store screenshots and a promo video for the product launch
Results
Successfully launched within four months, supporting the platform's mission to make book ownership accessible globally.
Currently serving families across 50 languages
What I Learned
This project strengthened my skills in collaborative UI design, working under an art director’s guidance, designing for families and children, and creating emotionally warm, visually balanced interfaces. It also gave me hands-on experience preparing App Store assets and high-fidelity prototypes for stakeholders.
